FBI Wiretaps Canceled for Non-Payment

This is hilarious if it is true:

Telephone companies have cut off FBI wiretaps used to eavesdrop on suspected criminals because of the bureau’s repeated failures to pay their phone bills on time.

Errors Transposing Votes and Diebold Machines Issues

Allegations of vote fraud in New Hampshire
’s primary are growing. The data from Diebold electronic voting machines is up to 5% points different than the hand-written ballots that were cast. Sutton Town has now reported an error in transposing votes and an employee of LHS Associates, whom counted 81% of the vote, has a criminal record.

True or not this bit of news insighting RAGE on the Internets… kinda scary:
Diggers need to stop assuming it’s Ron Paul fans who are crying wolf. We understand that vote rigging did not change the fact that Ron Paul didn’t win.

What we do understand is the much more realistic conclusion that Obama was denied just enough votes to give Hillary a win. While they both recieved the same amount of delegates, she still is awarded a “win” and it’s a major boost to her campaign.

Not only does the GOP want Hillary as a contender because they feel she is the most beatable democrat, but she’s also the most neoconservative of the democrats. Endless war? Check. Bought and paid for by several corporations (including health care and insurance providers. She backed out of universal care the first time, don’t expect her second go-around to be any different).

We’re bitching because our elections are handled by a private company using methods they won’t release. There is no paper trail, no possibility of an audit, nothing. They can do what ever the fuck they want and the system is setup so that we can’t know. Why is this not a bigger issue?

The ethics of Stealing Wifi “wifi piggybacking”

“A recently released study by a security firm says that using an open WiFi network without permission is stealing. Ars looks at the ethics of open WiFi.

Amazingly, accessing an unsecured, wide-open WiFi network without permission is illegal in some places, and not just in the UK. An Illinois man was arrested and fined $250 in 2006 for using an open network without permission, while a Michigan man who parked his car in front of a café and snarfed its free WiFi was charged this past May with “Fraudulent access to computers, computer systems, and computer networks.” On top of that, it’s common to read stories about WiFi “stealing” in the mainstream media.

It’s time to put an end to this silliness. Using an open WiFi network is no more “stealing” than is listening to the radio or watching TV using the old rabbit ears. If the WiFi waves come to you and can be accessed without hacking, there should be no question that such access is legal and morally OK. If your neighbor runs his sprinkler and accidentally waters your yard, do you owe him money? Have you done something wrong? Have you ripped off the water company? Of course not. So why is it that when it comes to WiFi, people start talking about theft?”

On some occassions I have accidentally used my neighbors open and unsecured wifi. I don’t think it was stealing. No if they’d had WEP and I decided to actively crack in to it then I believe it is an immortal and criminal act.
