UK hacker Gary McKinnon should be recommended for extradition to the US, a district court judge said today. The decision means Mr McKinnon will face trial in America for what the US has “the biggest military hack of all time”.

I'm not down with the Patriot Act calling ALL Black Hats (criminal hackers) that penetrate (or attempt to penetrate) Department of Defense systems “Terrorists.”  reminds me of some of McCartyism and the Communist witch hunt nonsense during the 1950's in the US. Let the punishment fit the crime.  Did he have a negative impact on National Security?  If Mckinnon wanted to do damage to National Security he could have sold the access to China, NK, Iran or all the hundreds of govs, agencies that would benefit.  The real issue is the he publically humiliated some big wigs.  Hopefully, the powers that be will learn from this gigantic breach in security.  DoD needed a rude awakening.  Hopefully, this will wake them up to what is possibly still going on.

I'm no apologist for criminal hackers, but is this justice?  Granted we have yet to hear what kind of sentence he gets but he will almost definitely to put in the same category as terrorists and be made into an example.
