The FISC

I will be attending the Federal Information Security Conference on the 21 and 22 of June.

Dates:

Wednesday and Thursday
June 21-22, 2006

Time:

8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (both days)

Location:

Doubletree Hotel Colorado Springs
1775 East Cheyenne Mountain Blvd.
Colorado Springs, CO 80906

I will be assisting the local Information System Security Association with their booth.  Only thing is that I have to renew my damn membership.  It is about $125 but it is reimbursed by the company that I work for.

I have never been to the FISC, but it sounds extremilty boring.  Just look at the speakers:

http://www.fbcinc.com/fisc/speakers.asp Lots of Chief Scientists, Chiefs Security Officers, Chief Technical Officers.  To many chiefs and not enough Indians.  The more titles with the words, Chief, Senior, Director or (worse) chairman the less the person seems to know about what is REALLY going on “on the ground.”  There are always exceptions of course.  But I don't think that the FISC is going to have any exceptions.  Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Looks like lots of theory and policy.  I personally like toys and tricks.  I'm more of a Defcon type of guy.  I'm definitely going this year.  It will be great.
