Password Creation & Memorizing Tip (primes)

Since the DOD has made the password requirement impossible, I’ve been coming up with complex password methods that are easy to remember.

Here is one:

Passwords based on three digit primes on small areas of the keyboard.

135 – prime three digits

!#% – special characters of the prime

QET – cap letters under the prime (to left)

wrr – lower letters under the prime (right)

You choose a row of prime numbers. Then you base all the other digits on that prime.

How about simply using passphrases: longer (hence harder to crack) and much easier to remember. Better still, lines from your favorite song or poem (giving a natural sequence of passwords). Use punctuation and numbers as necessary.

“My password is very str0ng” would be harder to crack than all of your carefully-crafted characters, and MUCH easier to recall.

Kind regards,
Gary

In the end passwords always present problems. Look at issues such as cognitive passwords. These are still widely used by Internet organizations. Keystroke loggers and shoulder surfing is also possible. In the end we would be much better to move to stron authentication such as biometrics or two factor.

What do you do when the security dopes want to change your password every month? Human memory doesn't work that way.
