her !k
I am getting the exact same email, except from a “Kelly Richards”, whose email address is: krichards074@yahoo.com
What legit company would use a Yahoo email account?
I asked if this was legit, and “she” wrote back a lengthy reply in English with many grammar mistakes and asked me to check them out at the following URL:
http://stslinc.biz/Our_vacancies.htm
There is a legit company called STS Logistics, but this is NOT them. Check out that URL above…it’s hilarious. Here is a sample of the bad English you’ll find on it:
We works with Ebay Auction too:
You tell our company what do you want to bid for, and what is your maximum bid. The company pays (thru PayPal, money order, etc) and delivery any possible goods from auction to your door.
Dateline did an investigation into people who are scammed into doing this “job” only to find that they are pawns in a very illegal major rip-off scam.
Here is another one with a different name and point of contact:

I get the same thing as Scott Lysle, from “Instar Logistics Company”, what a joke!!! What can be done to keep these people, scam artist, spammers, what ever you want to call them out of our computers. They must really think all Americans are really ‘Stupid’. I wish there was a way to get back at them.
Hello, I got this today, this is really weird, I think it’s a scam…

this really sucks i get several a day this is the latest one and as you can see i have been carrying on a conversation with tis person. this is the first one to acctually respone when i email back. What can they do if they get the information they are asking for any way?
Neal,
You’ve specified the following address while registering:
Address: 1
City: oklahoma
State: OK
Country: United States
Zip: 73095
It’s clear the address is wrong so if you would like to work for Instar you’ll need to provide a valid residential address.
The packages will come from major US suppliers like Gateway, HP, etc. You can look for Instar on the web, it’s a legal business based on price and offer difference in the USA and Russia.
Please ask me with more questions or let me know you’re ready to get started.
Bye,
Alice

Hello Neal,
I’m Alice, your personal manager.
Thanks for your inquiry! Now I’ll explain the details of this job.
1. A package will be shipped to you. I’ll let you know what’s inside(usually it’s electronics or clothes) and the approximate arrival date.
2. You should receive the package and send me the confirmation that you’ve received it. Please note that most carriers(UPS, DHL, Fedex) usually deliver before 3pm.
3. I’ll email you pre-paid USPS shipping label the day the package is delivered to you. This means you won’t have to pay for shipping out of your pocket. Shipping labels are in PDF or TIFF format so make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. You’ll have to print shipping label and then take the printed label and the package to the Post Office. Please try to ship the package the same day the it’s delivered, you’ll get $40 for each package.
4. Then you should send an email to me to confirm the package is shipped.
5. The payments for your job are calculated each month between 7th and 9th beginning from July 7th. They can be sent to your paypal account or by personal check, please choose the option.
Please ask me with more questions or just let me know you’re ready to get started(nothing will be shipped to you before your confirmation).

Got this email as well. I seem to get a lot of emails like this since I am on Careerbuilders job search board.
“Hi, if you are interested in a well-paid part-time(2-3 hours a day) job in a large transportation & logistics company please contact me at e-mail: aragan3383@hotmail.com

I received this copy:

If you google the company name, Instar Logistics Company, it looks legitimate. It is a real company. I’m sure they have no idea that they’re being used this way. I googled the name “Amanda Ragan”, and she’s a senator or something in Iowa. It’s a legitimate name, and brings up a lot of hits, which gives you a little bit comfort that this might possibly be a real. However, if you google her e-mail address, who leads you here and you find out that Amanda has a bunch of e-mail addresses just slightly different than the one you received, and her alter ego is named John and/or Kelly.
After reading Neal’s post concerning the communication he had concerning this e-mail, why does any shipping company need to send packages in two stages unless they are concealing something? The information Neal received doesn’t say anything about sending money up front, so there is a possibility that someone wants us to forward the packages to a new address because it is something illegal. Why would they pay you $40.00 to drive to a post office, and resend a package when it could’ve been sent to the correct address to begin with? As mentioned by Karen above, I also am on careerbuilder and several other employment sites. That’s probably the source of e-mail and contact information for these people. Why do they have to use so many different e-mail addresses? And none of the e-mail addresses are from the company in question? Hmmm… Yeah, this is a scam, not a particularly good one, but somebody will still fall for it. We’ll read about in the papers, ” John Doe Arrested For Smuggling Diamonds Out Of Russia” and he’ll be quoted as saying, “Whuuut… diamonds? D’ey told me it was radios…”
OMG, I also got an email from this amanda person.
“Hi, if you are interested in a well-paid part-time(2-3 hours a day) job in a large transportation & logistics company please contact me at e-mail: aragan4484@hotmail.com With best regards, Amanda Ragan, Project manager, Instar Logistics Company. ”
And I was actually stupid enough to reply, and I got an email back like a minute later
“Hello,

I recently received an email from Amanda Ragan with an email address of aragan5585@hotmail.com. Just alone the fact that Amanda (a.k.a. LudmillaTschenkov) uses so many variations of her her HOTMAIL email address is reason to be suspicious. It’s simply amazing when one thinks about it, what lengths a person will go to commit devious acts of deception and fraud. Just imagine if that same amount of mental energy is devoted to creating a legitimate business venture. What drives the human spirit to stray off the path of positive creativity like this and set someone up, who would be naive enough to be victimized by this scam, and potentially destroy them financially??? It’s really sad.
Hi, I got the Amada Ragan one also.
What irks me the most is that many of us seem to belong to CareerBuilder and other job sites, because we are looking for career opportunities or second jobs, and we end up with this garbage.
My fear is that someone, out of desperation who has been out of work for awhile, will fall for this.
I agree with the above posters that they must be shipping some illegal.
Kelley
I received this email also. I get several emails like this since I am on Careerbuilder’s job search board. Even though I usually spot a scam, I almost responded to this one. Good thing I ran a Google search first!

I got the same email from Amanda Ragan.
I’m desperate for a job and almost fell for this too. What got me suspicious was the incorrect grammar. I emailed her back requesting more info. In the subject line it read “Vacation openings”. This did not make sense.
Like the rest of you said, why do they need to have a third party send packages if it is supposed to be legal? Obviously it is a major SCAM. I, too, am on careerbuilders, and a variety of other job search sites.
I also did several searches for home-based businesses. Perhaps this is what these scammers are preying on. What kind of low-life takes advantage of decent people willing to actually WORK for a living?
Hi all,
These are not your basic scams, these are money laundering schemes for highly organized crime syndicates. What they do is have you reroute packages (stolen goods), or transfer money (from stolen CCs) for which you take a cut, usually 10%. The majority of the “contacts” you are dealing with are from the former Soviet Republic states and are simply laundering money stolen from somewehere else, usually credit cards.
Again, these schemes are very illegal. If you launder money or mule stolen goods for these people, expect the feds at your door at any time.
V
I forgot to mention, guess what else they won’t do…pay you. So not only are you not making any money, your bank accounts are frozen, and you’ll be facing felony fraud charges. Don’t even respond to these people, just shuffle it to your Spam folder and delete it.
I got this one today in my spam folder from Cruz Hutchinson (postmaster@abrahamgustin.com), but the email said it was from someone named Nancy Weller, which I thought was interesting, since the sender was not the same as the person named to contact. I am also on Career Builder, but Earthlink’s spam filter recognized this as spam. I plan on going to Career Builder and taking my resume off, since most of their jobs seem to be a scam…

I also got this message through Monster.com…glad I checked Google first. This is my first experience registering through a career or job search site. Not sure I’ll continue to keep my resume active if it means people are using these sites to scam job seekers…

I received several of these e-mails when I was unemployed and desperate. I checked w/ career builder and the better business bureau. Both said the site was legitimate. So I basically started with a company. The packages started coming to me in different peoples names with my address. I started to become very leary. After a month I started to receive credit card statements at my home address in these different names. All the statements had balances and payments. I contacted the source. They gave me a very good excuse only I knew it was wrong in my heart. I contacted the cc companies to let them know that no one by those names lived here and they told me to contact the FBI which I did. After that the website dissappeared. Nothing ever came of it but needless to say I stopped. I know I was very stupid and I hope this helps other people realize these are scams regardless of how legitimate they appear. I sometimes still receive mail from places in these peoples name. I take it as a reminder of how stupid I was.
I got an aragan e mail too - diff addy to the others above.

Instar Logistics is indeed a criminal scam. What you get is usually bought with a stolen credit card or other identity theft method and shipped to you, and you re-ship it to someone else that combines the hot merchandise into a larger shipment and forwards it overseas to Ukrane or Russia. It does make you an accessory in a crime, receiving stolen goods will be the charge.
I cannot believe people have this much free time.

I was desperate, asked a lot of questions and thought what the heck how much trouble could I get into. A couple weeks later I was with my kids and a friend and her kids and a package arrived. I had forgot all about this thing. The package did not have my name on it so I returned it. Then I recieve an email. I then remembered and thought to myself I needed to really look into how much trouble I could get into. Yea, not interested!!! Please not the email string below and BEWARE…BEWARE…BEWARE…
Thank you.

This is a credit card scam where they use stolen credit data, purchase items over the internet, have them sent to you and you forward to the crooks. This allows them to avoid detection. Also, there could be large amounts of cash in the boxes instead of merchandise. Be careful, if you participate, you could be prosecuted.
