Nigerian Dating Scams: Peterson Johnson of Canada

by Bruce Brown | 91 Comments

I am also at fault to get involved with a Nigerian Scammer though there are some changes and improvement I think they have made in the last few days. I see there is a post here from Sept.8,2008. I am writing here on Sept 20,2008

The story basically the same parents or parent are dead. But now this man claims to be Peterson Johnson of Canada. lived in Bremuda until he was 19 and parents died in a car crash or just mother when he was 26. He claims to be an Engineer from Hamilton, Ontario. He has done some world travelling to Paris, Scotland, this is first time in Nigerian been there just three weeks. After about 4 emails he was in love. He claimed I reminded him of his mom. How sweet. He claims he is 33 or 32 years on profile it says he is 32 but he told me he is 33. Most of his emails are well spoken english but a couple have been very broken, his last for example. Which gave me a final red flag. It sounded like a complete other person the english and grammer where so poor and what he said sounded like a stocker, not like a man in love. I took some advice from some of the post above mine. To do some digging on this Peterson Johnson, I took the first sentence in one of his letters, and google it. Surprise, Surprise to find it was a letter from another scammer, but it was from a women not my sweet Peterson.

I just wanted to add my comments because this scam details are a little different than the other comments. This guy claims to be single with no kids, he is from Canada not England or the States. He is not travelling, he is already in Nigeria working on contract for an Engineering Company. I think they are learning from the emails and the communications that us who have been scammed have sent them. Though I never gave my address, phone, or were I work to my potential mate. I was still scammed into believe that this person could have been real.

So if anyone tells you any of the information above, please don’t email them anymore also don’t give out any personal information. If anything sounds familiar to you or if you want to see the pictures of Peterson that I was sent you can email me at funnieface21@yahoo.com. Below I have also am including part of the letter that I was sent an had google the first sentence from this letter on Google.

I have also enclosing below the email address of the yahoo account that I was getting emails sent to me from.

Take Care and good luck I hope this information is helpful.

Dear,
I am young but I have experienced the joy of love and pain of hurt before. I had to walk away to save myself from walking into more than I could handle. I may be nothing more than a romantic idealist at heart; I can’t help it. But people either move me inside, deep in my soul, or they do not. You touched me with your words and made me feel safe and feel loved again.

You know what is funny? No matter how much you guys create awareness against scam and scammers, lots of you who have never been scammed and lots of you who have been scammed will still get scammed over and over. It is serious down here in Nigeria, Guys in Nigeria now use voodoo, black magic to influence you to act according to their will. You may not believe but its true.

He was going to fetch me so that we get married. He was asking for money everyday as a person who was stranded in Nigeria.Like others he is an engineer who does not know English well yet he grew in the UK.

I confronted about his country of Origin in Facebook he is there but when you invite him he does not respond. He claimed to be 49 yet the one on facebook he is 45. The initial picture he posted is still on facebook and the others he used for th yahoomessenger and login. emails he is using is maxipresb@yahoo.com and the other is pressnlogan@yahoo.com.He is now supposed to be in Uk but I believe he is still in Nigeria. He asked me to delete the Nigerian no as he got irritated when I called him on the same. He is such a sweet talker even in the last email one would be convinced and he cries a lot to convince his victim.

I have recently been emailing with a scammer from Nigeria who calls himself Peterson Griffin, he says he's 42 and is a widow with a 5year old daughter. Says he is originally from Nashville,TN but lives in Orange,FL and is in Nigeria on business buying antiques. His first couple emails were in good English, but as the emails continued the fluency and flow of conversation is more broken and not as easily readable.
He constantly keeps repeating "Let's keep the ball rolling" and talking about his likes and that he is looking for the perfect women.

I too have been chatting to Petersen Griffin, same thing 42, widow with a 5 year old daughter Serena. I didn't have problems reading his emails, how did you know he was a scam? Did he ask you for anything? He didn't ask me for anything I had been chatting to him for about a month and he used the same line… lets keep the ball rolling! As the emails kept going on he told me he would relocate anywhere as long as I loved him and Serena unconditionally. He sent me pictures of the two of them and we were iming. The last few emails he told me he loved me and couldn't live without me and hoped that I would chose him as my partner. After those emails I googled his name and came across your post so I confronted him in a email, told him that if he was scamming me to stop right now! He instant messaged me how upset he was and did he look like someone who would do that!! I thought well I don't know… who's pictures did he send me?? I didn't know who this guy was and from the beginning I was hesitant.
I haven't heard from him since he told me how upset he was.

I believe you I became aware the very first time but I cried tears in an unbelievable way. I told my friends but when they advisesd me I would just go willingly to places that are strange. When I think about it now I was not in control. I would ask him about the scam and he would be defensive but I believed in him. I would chase him away but the following day I would speak a different language. This is so true and it is painful. Everytime when I would object I would get stabbing pains in my body only a prayer would assist me.

In response to Krewl, I also was in contact with the same Peterson Griffin and was chatting with him for about a month. He sent me pictures of him and his daughter Serena. He said the same things to me about his wife dieing tragically and he moved from Nashville to Orange Florida to forget the bad memories of his wife’s death. He told me he would relocate to wherever I wanted as long as I could love him and Serena unconditionally, as we continued chatting he would tell me more about what he was like and how he was falling for me. The last few emails he told me how he couldn’t live without me and he loved me… really!! we haden’t even met so I googled his name and came across this so I confronted him and he messaged me back angry at me that I hurt him and did he look like someone who would do that! I told him if he was a scam stop emailing me and I haven’t heard from him since.
    Be careful out there everyone!!
