Nigerian Dating Scams: Peterson Johnson of Canada

September 20, 2008

I am also at fault to get involved with a Nigerian Scammer though there are some changes and improvement I think they have made in the last few days. I see there is a post here from Sept.8,2008. I am writing here on Sept 20,2008

The story basically the same parents or parent are dead. But now this man claims to be Peterson Johnson of Canada. lived in Bremuda until he was 19 and parents died in a car crash or just mother when he was 26. He claims to be an Engineer from Hamilton, Ontario. He has done some world travelling to Paris, Scotland, this is first time in Nigerian been there just three weeks. After about 4 emails he was in love. He claimed I reminded him of his mom. How sweet. He claims he is 33 or 32 years on profile it says he is 32 but he told me he is 33. Most of his emails are well spoken english but a couple have been very broken, his last for example. Which gave me a final red flag. It sounded like a complete other person the english and grammer where so poor and what he said sounded like a stocker, not like a man in love. I took some advice from some of the post above mine. To do some digging on this Peterson Johnson, I took the first sentence in one of his letters, and google it. Surprise, Surprise to find it was a letter from another scammer, but it was from a women not my sweet Peterson.

I just wanted to add my comments because this scam details are a little different than the other comments. This guy claims to be single with no kids, he is from Canada not England or the States. He is not travelling, he is already in Nigeria working on contract for an Engineering Company. I think they are learning from the emails and the communications that us who have been scammed have sent them. Though I never gave my address, phone, or were I work to my potential mate. I was still scammed into believe that this person could have been real.

So if anyone tells you any of the information above, please don’t email them anymore also don’t give out any personal information. If anything sounds familiar to you or if you want to see the pictures of Peterson that I was sent you can email me at funnieface21@yahoo.com. Below I have also am including part of the letter that I was sent an had google the first sentence from this letter on Google.

I have also enclosing below the email address of the yahoo account that I was getting emails sent to me from.

Take Care and good luck I hope this information is helpful.

Dear,
I am young but I have experienced the joy of love and pain of hurt before. I had to walk away to save myself from walking into more than I could handle. I may be nothing more than a romantic idealist at heart; I can’t help it. But people either move me inside, deep in my soul, or they do not. You touched me with your words and made me feel safe and feel loved again.

SAME THING happened to me(just a different guy…William Craig Souders)…I got suckered…and I am very disappointed in myself.

Met this guy on eHarmony, his name William Craig Souders, from Columbus OH. Moved here to the US from Portugal 6 years ago. Had a daughter who lived in Portugal and attended Oporto British School (boarding school). Lost his daughter Mary’s mother at childbirth. His father was deceased. His mother was very ill…and of course she died during our correspondance (mid August). He supposedly went to London to bid on an oil spill clean up and won the contract. His job (environmental engineer) was to clean up oil spill in Nigeria. But then his mother died and he left the job abruptly. He needed money to pay her doctor bills, burial, etc… Said he now had to sell his contract with The Shell Company (2.5 million dollar contract)….the story goes on and on… Needless to say I got taken on this scam. (lots of money, digital camera, etc). He supposedly is to be home here (US) this weekend. However, I have NOT be able to reach him by phone, email, or through Yahoo Messenger. I am deciding how I want to proceed. Thinking of hiring a Private Investigator, contacting the police/FBI. I don’t want any other woman to experience the same thing I experienced.

I just met Peterson through eHarmony. As a matter of fact, I just chatted with him this morning and he already “loves” me and asked me to cancel my subscription. He said had to go to work — he’s an engineer on a construction project in Western Africa (Nigeria) but claims to live in Abingdon, MD.

Boy, am I glad I googled him.

I think this is the same guy that scammed me. He goes under the name of Stephen Brown and said he was an oil spillage controller working in the North Sea in Scotland. He told me he lived in Griffin Texas, and that he had a 17 year old son at College in Huston. He also said his wife died in a ‘gastly car accident five years ago”. He won me over completely and our online affair went on for just over five weeks. He told me his contract had just finished and that he was going back to Texas the following weekend. The Wednesday before he was due to go home, he sent me an email. The first paragraph was full of him declaring his undying love for me and then the next he went on to ask if I could help him out with a problem:_His problem was that his son had just messaged him to say he needed $3000 US for travel to Germany with his college and could I go to a Western Union and wire him the money. Of course I immediately recognised this as a scam and emailed back telling him that it was no problem. I asked him if $3000 would be enough as I did not want to see him poor son short of money on his Germany visit. He emailed me back thanking me and promising he would pay me back when he got off. The dear soul included a little poem to me. I rather sarcastically asked him if he’d been half asleep when he wrote the poem as it seemed rather simple for a man of his seeming intelligence. To cut it short; I played him for a few emails (getting him all worked up) with the no problem darling I’ll send you the money, then I suggested I phone direct to the son’s college and pay direct with visa. Of course there was no need for this according to one of his emails. On the Friday morning his son was supposedly heading off to Germany I emailed him saying that I had just gotten back to my ex and that I was sorry for any hurt I had caused him but that I would not be resuming any one line communications with him again. I also told him I would not be sending him any money. He wrote back telling me how I had killed him by ending our relationship and that I had really let him and his son down by not sending the money I had promised. He said he was completely devastated but that he would still be expecting me to send him the money. Hahaha!!

This guy uses words like, wonderful angel, pretty, babe, soonest. His word are usually grammatically incorrect.

Ie: How areyou today? and how was your night? I am sorry I would not be able to write you much right now because I would be a little busy for the day. I want to thank you very much for opening the yahoo account and can’t wait for us to chat but that should be tomorrow Saturday about 10 am your time. I hope you have a great day and would meet you 10 am your time tomorrow.

    Hugs and Kisses,

    Stephen

Watch out ladies; he uses a handsome picture of someone else and lists his age as 45. His profile on Tagged is StephenB of Griffin TX.

Hello out there, i have had 5 scammers hit me up online a paris Johnson, Jane alix, Dianne Johnson, lauren Smith and Debra williams within the last 3 weeks from My Space. My profile was put on there as a request of producers of a Movie i am in so that people could chat.

What a bloody nightmare it has been, ALL of these women claim to be from the USA and educated there, have university degrees, have ALL lost both parents or one has passed and the other wanted them to move to Nigeria where they now reside. All is fine for the first few letters or IM yahoo(again ALL saked for me to get it connected) and then wham bam, they are so in love with me, can i do them a favor, can i help with food money, they have to be with me there heart is in my hands,( the most offensive) GOD has found you fro me, THE LORD JESUS has sent you to be my saviour, etc, etc, etc, i do not have to go on you can imagine the collection of promises, how i would be there king etc, etc.

I was not scammed at all BUT could imagine a lot of lonely and desperate men who are genuine being seduced by these heart less scoundgrels and low life bottom feeders who take advantage of peoples good nature. ALL these above peoples have asked for $$$ for plane tickets to Australia BUT have to get them from Nigeria as it would be easier, it could not be done from Australia( load of rubbish)

i am playing there game back on them with 2 of the above mentioned names as they need a little of there own medicine. The give away signs are the grammar, spelling and formation of sentences. I am not a rocket scientist by any stretch of the imagination but i do hold a good grasp of english and having many american mates KNOW how they talk and write!!!

So PLEASE becareful out there as it is nit the shark you see that will bite you. These dirty rotten scum are just searching for there next target or prey DO NOT LET IT BE YOU

    be good to each other
    BEAR

Got something to say?
