Finding a job: In the health care career field

A friend of mine is having trouble finding a job. She is in the medical field, so I am VERY surprised about this.

According to US News, health care jobs are among the top 50 best careers to get into for 2010 and 2011.

Many of the occupations on this list rank at the top of the Labor Department’s growth projections for 2008 to 2018, largely because millions of aging baby boomers will continue to place heightened demand on healthcare providers. — US News, Best Careers 2011

There is obviously a high demand for many of the occupations within the health care industry, so I am at a loss as to why she is having trouble finding a good job. I told her about monster.com, but this did not yield as many results as I thought. So now I am thinking that there must be some healthcare specific search engines that she can try. Here is what I found:

Health Career Web – Allows you to search 1000s of jobs in the health care industry

Health eCareers - Health Care & Medical Jobs

Career Builder (Health Care Jobs)

Absolutely Health Care

There are a few job search engines that allow you to search the web for decent jobs in ANY career field. And these sites are equal or better than monster.com:
http://www.indeed.com
http://www.simplyhired.com

This site has a breakdown of many of the positions in the health care world:

Another thing to be mindful of is that its important to have credentials in the health care career field. This is means, certificates, degrees, experience, license. Remember you are competing with many others going after the same positions.
